Warrior Forum: A Necessity For Internet Business Enthusiasts

I started my internet business with the guidance of a business package I purchased. One of the best outcomes from the business package was a referral to the Warrior Forum. If you haven't gone and checked this site out, you are ignoring a powerful internet business tool.

The guide I purchased introduced the Warrior Forum to me as a purely great way to advertise my business. While I have a signature file that refers people to my website and blog, and you can make money by offering up your products in special sections of the site, I don't go there for the advertising. I go there to learn and exchange ideas.

Today, I looked at someones website. They were wondering why it wasn't converting customers. I checked it out, and let her know what I thought as a customer. Where else can you find that kind of free online help for your internet business?

Great New Book About Writing Great Ad Copy Can Help Ensure Your Internet Business is Profitable!

Great books are sometimes hard to come by. Especially, great books that can help improve your internet businesses profitability.

Side Notes: You may have noticed I have a link to amazon.com on the right side panel of this blog. I'm mostly split on buying books online. I get impatient waiting for the book to show up on my door step which leads me to the local book store a lot of the time. Then, when I get home, I realize my impatience cost me an extra 10-20%. Amazon is awesome and gets their orders out the door pretty quickly.

So, I love to read and learn new things. My most recent epiphany when it comes to running a profitable internet business is to read books about writing better online copy. To help me with this task I bought "Content Rich" by Jon Wuebben. His book is simplifying the online writing process by educating readers about how to tweak their writing styles to be more internet appropriate.

Believe it or not, people read differently online. It's not like reading a book where every word is absorbed by the readers mind. People online 'scan,' they don't read. I do it, you do it, everyone does it.

So, as internet business enthusiasts, we need to augment our writing styles and morph our copy into being 'scan friendly.' I'm not advising you to erase your copy, just reorganize it. Don't eliminate important information. Use bullets and numbers. You can also use bold and italics to make visitors eyes draw to the most important elements of your website (be careful not to go overboard).

I have done so much research involving studying website organization and noticed that most people online feel that being wordy will make visitors view them as smart and an industry leader. To be honest, I usually exit overly wordy sites because I don't have the time their site's require to read it all. Have you ever left websites for the same reason? I usually find a competitor of theirs that simplifies the copy and makes it 'scan friendly' and then I buy the products from them.

Don't create a Website people want to exit. Make it easy to navigate, interesting to read, 'scan friendly,' and, most important, make it easy for visitors to purchase your products.

I highly suggest getting Jon's book. It may not be the most captivating information you will ever read, but it will be one of the most profit launching tools you use. Read The Terms & Conditions Before You Act On Subscribing to Programs!

I know this sounds rudimentary, but I'm going to say it anyways: Always Read the Terms & Conditions When You Sign Up for Programs, Buy Products Online, and Use different Forums For Your Business!!!!

I'm not the only person that gets bored to death when reading all of the t&c's and I'm not the only person that has been burned by my laziness. If you have ever bought anything online, especially when starting an online business, you know how easy it is to just hope that everything is 'straight forward' and that everyone you do business with is ethical and honest.

Unfortunately, the terms and conditions pages are where companies now list their ways of manipulating you out of money. They are overfilled with mostly useless information and they sneak the 'catch-22' into the middle of it.

For Example:

I recently bought a "how to..." software when trying to learn more about Excel and increase it's usefulness in my life. I paid like $14.95 for the free 15 day trial. I got the package after about 5 days and tested it for a couple days. After trying it I realized it wasn't for me so per the terms of the 'free' trial, I obtained a RMA and sent back the disc. Well, the business charged me $189 for the program and that was 2 months ago. I called back within the time period and everything. When I again inquired about my refund, which should have been completed last week, the guy said he will get it to me in 15 business days. Really? That will be almost 3 months of interest accrued on my credit card for this program.
In summation, they really didn't want me to try their program. They wanted to trick $189 out of me. There is no way that with shipping and handling (both ways) that you can test the product. The guy on the phones response to my frustration is that I could have called to extend the trial. My Response: "If I wanted to call your stupid business, I would have ordered the product over the phone. I use the internet so I don't have to call! You know that the time allotted isn't sufficient to try the product and your business strategy is designed to manipulate, instead of earn, money out of my pocketbook."

Besides vocalizing my frustrations, there is little else I can do. I buy lots online, but this was my first attempt at a 'free trial.' While 'free trials' are a useful and economical way to sample, they are also not as awesome as they seem when you read the t&c's. Be careful online. Don't let businesses get your money this way. I personally call it unethical, they call it 'legal.' In the end, I know what my retaliation will be: they lose my business. I was going to order a more expensive product about online business from this company, Video Professor, but they have proven that they are not interested in providing excellent customer service. They took my money and aren't giving it back even though I followed their rules. (I did send the package back w/in 15 days, the post office delivered it 5 or so days after my allotted time period, but by then I had a rma so they new I wasn't keeping it....bastards, it was essentially impossible to succeed in following their t&c's).

I wrote this to vent. I won't lie. But I also want my readers to be sure to stay alert when they are enlisting in programs and buying stuff online. Read the Terms and Conditions and make sure you follow them to a tee because the companies don't want to give you your money back.

You need to go online everyday to market your business. If you don’t do something everyday, your internet based business could stagnate. When your business stalls, so do your profits. By using my secret methods for staying organized and involved in marketing, your business is sure to flourish.

1) Keep a Notebook Close by Whenever You’re Working Your Internet Based Business.

When I started my online business I kept pursuing marketing strategies recommended by top internet masters. My initial problem was that I didn’t keep track of the website’s I posted to, amounts I paid, and tools that were helpful. Many things I’ve done twice because I followed one guru down a path then another guru down a similar path.

I’m glad I made this mistake because now I have a great organizational method that keeps all my marketing efforts organized. I have 1 notebook filled with every website I come across that could be a beneficial marketing tool, my top keywords, guru’s to look to for help, and anything else dedicated solely to marketing by business and creating web presence. My Internet Based Business got organized once I did this.

Even better, when a night comes where I can't thing of something new to do to better my business and increase my traffic, I turn to my notebook and pick 2 or 3 things to do that will help me achieve my goals. This way, not a day goes by where there is writers block or promoters block. In your notebook include article topics that you think of and different groups you may want to research promoting your business to. The opportunities are endless.

2) Keep a Daily Journal of What You Did to Help Your Business

By keeping a daily log containing everything you've completed on a daily basis will help you notice, after even the first month, how far your internet based business has progressed. You can track your errors, track websites you investigated but didn’t act on, and write down pricing and benefits of resources you use or may want to use in the future. If you create a new classified, write it down to remember the ad you put out that day and track its success in future journal entries. All of this will document how you obtained web presence, how you overcame obstacles, good ads, great decisions you made, and whom helped you along the way.

When you look back after a month you will notice that Every Little Promotion You Did Online Supercharged Your Internet Based Business. Not only will the sense of accomplishment push you to go even further and do even more for your business on a daily basis, but you will be able to see success when you compare your business stats now to what they were when you started.

A past friend of mine spent an enormous amount of time and money to get her Law Degree. I always thought her pursuit of the cherished jurist doctorate was a bizarre choice for her because she disliked reading and didn't have a passion for law. How will you ever be a happy, or maybe even more importantly, successful lawyer if you don't enjoy reading or have a passion for law? It seemed like her $100,000 may have been better spent chasing after something that would have been more enjoyable for her. To her it was about getting a higher degree, not about being a lawyer.

I would rather choose a career that let me live out my dreams and do something I enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I've worked jobs I hated and spent time pursuing a career that was not fulfilling. I just don't understand why people would invest so much time and money into one career path that wasn't directed toward your true passion.

My friend rationalized it by saying her law degree could be documented on any resume and increase her chances of getting the job. Maybe so, but it seems like an irrational and expensive way to go about getting a good job. How is a $100,000 investment and 4 years of life spent pursuing a degree you don't want a good life decision?

The internet accomplished a major feat for our society. You don't need to be like my friend and follow a career path that won't fulfill you. Think about the things you like in life:

Is it golf?
Is It Cosmetology?
Do You love Animals?
Is Sailing You Favorite Hobby? ETC>>>>

The list goes on and on, but you get my point. Now, with the internet, you can take your favorite hobby and translate that into a website or blog that talks about anything and everything to do with your true passions. Through that forum, you can sell products and information to people that share your same interests. This won't cost you years of your life slaving away in school. It won't cost you an immense amount of money. It will only take a few hours a day dedicated to learning about internet business and marketing.

I suggest using Colleen's Blog Inferno to help you get started. This is an inexpensive, step-by-step tutorial on how to make money from blogging. I first found out about Colleen on the Warrior Forum and she attracted me to her because of her honesty, the support she got from other warriors, and the inexpensive cost of her program. I bought it and refer back to it often. She is friendly for the non techie, so don't worry if your not a computer wiz.

So, don't just survive in life. Money is not so hard to come by that you need to be miserable while earning it. I suggest everyone survive in life. Do what you love and the rest will fall into place.

Don't Bother Starting An Internet Business Without A Plan

I was reading a thread at Warrior Room today about a guy who has $160 dollars and wanted to know how to spend it to make money by Starting An Internet Business. Most responders suggested he read through the threads on the warrior room about affiliate marketing, his main interest, before spending any money. Definitely great advice.

Reading as much as you can before spending money is super advice. I expanded on that and wanted to share my response.

I said:

"...Also, don't spend any money until you have a plan. It sounds like affiliate marketing is your preference so check out clickbank.com, commission junction, etc (google -affiliate sites- for more options) and read their 'how to' join, get involved, etc. A lot of these sites have forums all about affiliate marketing as well so that will help.
Start spending money after you have a plan, researched your niche, and found a market for your products. Then you will want to spend money on autoresponders and website hosting (sometimes even that is free).
If you want a more detailed plan,buy books on affiliate marketing to get a couple guru's perspective. Ewen Chia has a very detailed book recommended by Allen Says, Warrior Room Founder, and others. I refer to it all the time."

You never want to spend money without researching what you want to do online. That is how I lost money while learning how to Start An Internet Business. I could have started my business for a fraction of what I spent and that is why I'm taking time to help you avoid my mistakes. You can go to a search engine and just type in your question and see what comes up. I do it all the time when it comes to techie jargon. I don't get it, like it, or remember all of the acronyms so I'll type it in and usually get my answers from wikipedia.com or another similar site.

I know this advice will save you time and money when starting an internet business. If you start by spending and end with planning you will have very little to show for all of your hard work. Take my advice and got the the Warrior Forum, I believe it's still free for general use, or $37 for 20 + years of access to preferred forums. It is so worth the small investment for the war room membership. That's what I have.

What I think About Surveys: Thumbs Way Down!

Taking online surveys to make money and get free stuff is a lot of work. I've tried to take surveys online and joined 5 different programs. They were very easy to sign up for and simple to use. At first I thought, "WOW, I'm getting paid for my opinion!" I was excited to rate products and give my political views. I was eager to begin but quickly lost steam as I learned more about the process.

I got my first, second...then 15th survey emailed to me in just a few hours and realized these people mean business. As a newbie, I'm sure I did't get sent all the primo money-making surveys. I mostly got surveys that, once completed, would enter me in a drawing or sweepstakes. The drawings are generally for $25,000 with one winner taking all. Some programs have you accumulate points and then you deposit those points in a 'raffle' for the prize you like the most. I wondered how many other people are battling for the prize? I have a hunch, there's a lot.

I was a little surprised by how many surveys were sent to me. It's nice that the surveyors give time estimates on how long it should take to complete each questionnaire - probably 15-20 minutes is the norm - but when I did the math I realized that if I do 15 survey's at 15 minutes apiece it will take me slightly less than 4 hours to do my 'work.' Work I'm not getting paid for in most cases. Further, most surveys that pay, pay $2-5 dollars. If I spend 20 minutes making $2, that's not what I call breaking the bank.

I quickly realized surveys aren't going to be my central, money-making business, but, at this point thought they might get me a gift card or a free meal here and there so I continued on, only choosing surveys that paid a little money or had a great topic.

What I learned at this point is those surveys - the ones that pay a decent amount of money - are very specific and you don't get your money unless you pass screening questions that allow you to take the survey. They only need so many people from each demographic group for the survey, so if they already have enough white, 33 year old, women from California, your booted out and usually giving the consolation prize of being entered into a sweepstakes of some sort. So, I'm learning petty cash isn't so easy to come by in this online business either.

The most disappointing part of taking surveys is how truly boring they become. When I say I like or don't like a product then get asked a million questions about my feelings about the product and how likely I would be to recommend it to a friend and so on and so forth, I start getting a bit annoyed (to say the least). My feelings about the product can actually become negative because I'm annoyed I had to answer so many questions about it. It's making me tense just thinking about it.

I did enjoy the political survey I took, but only one was sent to me in a 2 month span. Maybe they didn't like my opinions. Maybe I should be worried that what I said may come back to haunt me. I could be on some list somewhere. Maybe those aren't even safe to take. What if somehow I start getting audited by the IRS or have the feds questioning my neighbors about me??? Okay, that paranoia, but can you prove it won't happen...neither can I.

So, I'm canceling all of my survey subscriptions. I just don't have the patience or time to waste, and there are so many other interesting jobs on the internet. If you are like me, and the survey thing isn't for you, don't worry. If you want to make money online there's millions of ways to make more money quicker than the survey method.

Analysis Paralysis = spending an abundant amount of time researching how to market without ever getting business going. At some time you need to “x*#@ or get off the pot” and put your ideas into motion. I learned this concept from “Rich Dad’s: Before You Quit Your Job,” by the ever popular Robet T. Kiyosaki. If you don’t know this line of books, or at least the author’s name, you haven’t done enough planning yet. Hopefully you have at least heard of him or read his first book, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.” Robert is a successful entrepreneur and model for how to successfully start and manage your own business.

This book “Before You Quit Your Job” is all about the mistakes he made on the path to success. He says a lot of entrepreneurs get analysis paralysis where they spend all there time trying to study everything about the business that their business never gets started. They sabotage their own success. I did this by thinking about starting an internet based business for so long that I never acted on my ideas. I’ve spent so long thinking about what and how to do it that I didn’t start the business for a decade. I could have been so much further along in my success if I just made some moves toward starting the actual business.

You could be saying to yourself, “how can I start a business unless I know everything there is to know first?” My reply, “EASY!”

Start with an idea. What do People need?
Research that idea. See what’s available online already that fills your niche’s need.
See if there are any gaps in what is already available so you could create space for your idea.
Find or Create products to solve your customers need
market those products to customers by showing them you’re here to help them fill their needs.
make product affordable and easily obtainable to your customers and create further products to sell them along the way that will further help them.

This may sound like it would take months. It really could be done much faster by researching primarily online. Once you have your niche the rest will fall in place. By not acting on your business ideas or hopes, you will find yourself never getting the business off the ground. I started making money online by learning an issue that people need resolved then I researched the issue and provide people with the right answers to their problems all in one place.

EWEN CHIA’S GREAT IDEA’S ABOUT HOW TO START AN INTERNET BASED BUSINESS!

I read Ewen Chia’s book “How I Made My First Million On The Internet and How You Can Too” and I loved it. I learned so much about how to organize my affliliate marketing campaign without feeling like I’m going in too many directions at once. I will occasionally expand on some of his comments here to further help you start an internet based business.

Ewen talks a lot about different types of marketing and how to use them to increase traffic to your website. He outlines a strategy that will lead you to build your business the right way. While I’m not going to rewrite his book here (I wouldn’t do it justice…read the book to get the skinny on the details), I very much like his ideas and want to give you a taste of why you should read this book.

I want to talk about organizing your campaign to where you do at least one marketing strategy a day to further your internet based business. There are so many routes you can take to spread the word about who you are and what you are offering people that it can get a little overwhelming.

If you are brand new to internet marketing, start learning one concept a week. Let’ say you choose to learn all there is to know about article marketing. Spend your 1^st week writing about your niche and submitting it to article publishing sites like ezinearticles.com. The next week, learn another concept like google adwords. Start your PPC (pay per click) campaign and focus on that. Repeat this process for a few weeks until you have at least 5 different marketing strategies executed (if you don’t know other marketing strategies refer to my article about how to market online!). Then, everyday you need to do at least 1 thing.

Whether it’s writing an article or commenting on a Forum, do something. Your schedule may look something like this:

Monday: write an article!
Tuesday: post to a forum
Wednesday: Blog entry and Correspond with other Bloggers
Thursday: Submit a classified ad to UsFreeAds.com
Friday: Submit your site to a new directory online.
Saturday: Write another Article.
Sunday: Rest if you like or Update your facebook or twitter.

Soon after you have started your internet based business, you will have a steady stream of traffic and the money will magically start to appear. If you don’t do something everyday to further your business you could lose focus and direction. I’m not saying you need to spend 5 hours working on your business, just spend 30-60 minutes a day improving your internet marketing strategy. It is so easy.

MLM: (aka Multi-Level Marketing) In the MLM Business not only do you sell companies products for monetary compensation, you also are paid for profits your recruits under you bring in, and the recruits under them bring in, and so on and so forth like the shape of a pyramid. While it is not a ‘pyramid scheme’ it closely resembles it and toes the line in some states of being illegal if done improperly.

Many salespeople and companies have become very successful through MLM but it is not an easy money making concept. It may require some higher set up costs and usually you have to pay for your own training and marketing materials. If you are looking for internet based business opportunities that are easier to execute and quicker to start, MLM may not be for you, but don’t worry, there are many other options.

AFFILIATE MARKETING: Selling other people’s stuff like e-books and how to guides online is a bit easier to get started. You just need to sign up for an affiliate account with one of many affiliate marketing product sites, and hand pick products that sound interesting. Then you sell them online and make money for the sale. While this still involves sales, the path you take to getting people to buy your products isn’t as complicated as MLM.

Affiliate marketing is one of the quickest ways to turn a profit online. You choose your products, find your niche market for those products and sell. Now, you do need to know a little about how to market products online when you become an affiliate. I suggest investing in Blog Inferno. WORK FROM HOME JOBS: Many people don’t want to start an internet based business. Why Are People So Paranoid about Online Fraud More than anything else

Why are people so afraid of getting defrauded online?

I’m mystified as to why people are particularly afraid of online scams but they will give their credit card number to anyone over the phone. It's like they think fraud is only happens on the web????

In the past I worked for a telemarketing company that was business to business selling promotional materials to real estate agents, loan officers, bankers, etc. You know, the ‘trinkets and trash’ you get for free like pens, magnets, cozies, etc. with companies logo’s on them. I would literally pick up the yellow pages and dial real estate offices and pitch products to professionals over the phone.When I first started that job, I doubted that anyone could make money starting a business relationship that way. I asked myself “Who in their right mind is going to give me their money?” It turns out, quite a few! I’m still shocked. I would think the phony one liner would put up a red flag or people would think I'm a scammer....I was wrong.

While the business I worked for was on the up-and-up so many are not. People hand out their credit card over the phone to any crazy loon that calls, but when it comes to the internet, people swear they would never pay for stuff online. They say, “It’s just not SAFE.”

My answer is: WHAT?

Your credit card has fraud protection. Businesses online have encrypted forms where you put your information in. And, you actually see a company logo and get an instant receipt in most cases. Over the phone you get some arbitrary customer number and a ‘have a nice day.’ I would much rather purchase online.

I have never had my credit card security compromised online but when I've purchased products at the convenience store, someone copied the number and helped themselves to a few items on me. My point is that fraud happens everywhere. You do have to be careful but don't be so careful that you lose out on great opportunities.

Researching Before Implementing Affiliate Marketing Campaigns!

If you are new to Affiliate Marketing, welcome to the world of Product Promotion and Advertising online.

I got started in affiliate marketing by chance, not on purpose. You could say I naturally fell into this internet business because sales is in my blood. I've been an insurance agent for 6 1/2 years and before that I was employed selling everything from exotic travel packages to happy vacationers and cocktails to road weary businessmen.

What I've found along the way is that Sales is Sales. If I'm up-selling a customer from well to a premium liquor or selling someone on the value of rental reimbursement on their auto insurance policy, it's all the same. I'm informing people about added value that will make their experience better and their life, in some cases, easier. That is your job as an affiliate marketer...inform people about products that will solve a problem they have and sell them that resolution and other products that will complement that resolution. For example, if you sell someone a golf club, you can also sell them a booklet on how to improve their swing. That is how you upsell in that scenario.

Most beginning marketers make horrible decisions when encountering situations that are unfamiliar to them. That is especially true when a majority of people try their hand at Affiliate Marketing and internet marketing. You probably read a story online or heard from a friend how lucrative affiliate marketing can be. You decided to try it and then realized that marketing doesn't always give instant results and there is a method to making your venture successful. You get frustrated and want to give up because your friend, or internet business guru, said it was 'easy.'

Don't give up. Just rewind a bit and start marketing one step at a time instead of all steps at the same time. I have a great article coming out I will share with you on how to start marketing in a methodical manner. After fine tuning a couple things I will release it for Free in a week or 2 so stay tuned!

In the mean time, I do want to leave you with one assignment. Do some research on your target niche. Gather a list of at least 50 keywords. You can find a free keyword tool at Google Adwords Keyword Tool. Go and enter those keywords into a google search and see what comes up. Check out your competition by reviewing their ads, product offers and web sites. This is the valuable research, or discovery, part of marketing upon which you will base your whole campaign. Don't rush or do a shoddy job. If you do, your campaign will reflect it and you will compromise how many customers you attract to your business.

This will be your first step to organizing your marketing campaign and from there the rest we will organize and implement in stages.

Remember to stay focused on your niche and business goals. Don't try to rush your marketing. And stay positive.
